Mary Prince Women’s Entrepreneurial and Leadership Conference Empowers Businesswomen

This week’s two-day program motivated female entrepreneurs and provided insight into company tactics. The inaugural Mary Prince Women’s Entrepreneurial and Leadership Conference was conducted by Nigerian businesswoman and philanthropist Ibukun Awosika, who led “enlightening sessions and activities,” according to a government spokesperson.

The first day of the conference focused on ethical leadership and how to effect significant change, while the second emphasized the necessity of resilience and innovation in developing successful commercial initiatives.

Ms. Awosika, the first chairwoman of the First Bank of Nigeria, led the conference and shared her success story at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on Monday.

More than 60 individuals attended her presentation, which included a Q&A with event curator Dana Selassie and refreshments for sale from female vendors. Dr. Selassie stated that the conference “set a new benchmark for empowering and inspiring women entrepreneurs in Bermuda”.

She continued: “As we look to the future, the lessons and connections forged during this conference will continue to drive positive change and innovation within our community.”

Dr. Selassie concluded: “We look forward to an even larger event next year with more community support for our women vendors.”

Tinée Furbert, Minister of Youth, Social Development, and Seniors, stated that the conference “positively inspired and empowered our local entrepreneurs through engaging masterclasses”.
She continued: “Women entrepreneurs have a right to be seen and heard as we build a brighter future for Bermuda.”
