A Carrick Lady is competing for Businesswoman of the Year

Owner and founder of CNJ Business Solutions, Charmayne Milliken assists clients with handling their back-office administrative tasks.

In this year’s Ulster Tatler Awards, the 38-year-old is a finalist for Businesswoman of the Year.

Before opting to start her own business, she spent 18 years working in the finance industry. “The idea to strike out on my own was seeded when I recently gave birth to my son and realized how much time I would miss with him if I had to commute back to work. Charmayne stated, “At first, I had established myself as an accounting service.

COVID19 Community Support that began as a Facebook group, appealed to the people in Northern Ireland for volunteering.

I quickly discovered that many clients seeking bookkeeping assistance also required assistance with a variety of other administrative responsibilities, which I was more than capable of handling.

Charmayne got a call from a classmate as the coronavirus pandemic began to spread. She needed assistance, but she wanted to make a difference and support the neighborhood in any way she could. We were under lockdown after all, and there were not many things to do, so I was okay with this work being voluntary, the local mother stated.

She had incorporated CRM tools, a website, and a Facebook page to make things as simple as possible for us admins.

It was designed to aid the immunocompromised, those who were confined to their homes and depended on others to provide them their medication, go shopping, and other simple but important tasks. “Soon we had volunteers spread throughout the country willing to help; we then offered that help out. The requests began coming in, from every region of Northern Ireland,” Charmayne said.
