Businesswomen Demonstrate their Concern by Hosting a Fundraiser

Children who are hospitalised often feel as though they are missing out on life, but a group of Border businesswomen have come up with a solution.

A cubby house will be constructed for the children’s ward at the Albury hospital using funds raised from a fundraiser that will take place on Saturday, July 15.

13 businesses will have the chance to express their vision in five-minute presentations during the Business Women Albury Wodonga Business Showcase Charity Event at the Bended Elbow Hotel in Albury.

Not only will the hospital receive a cubby, but the company has also committed to “decking out” the play area in the children’s ward and remodelling the parents room.

Event coordinator Hayley Foots predicted that they would generate more money than they had anticipated that night, or about $15,000.

“We have worked hard to get this off the ground,” Mrs Foots said.

“We chose the hospital because we’ve all had a personal connection there at some point.

“With the momentum that the event has raised, we are confident we will be able to raise more money for the children’s ward.”

Businesses who will be on stage “have different variety” and include those in marketing, real estate, health care, finance, legal, beauty, and photography.

“They’re very brave for getting up on stage,” Mrs Foots said.

“It’s an opportunity to raise awareness of their business and share their personal journey. We’re very encouraging of that.”

Approximately 100 men and women have already bought tickets, and sales are still ongoing.
